June 27, 2014, Due to car accident involving one of the (3) North American Indian advocates who are providing opinions (see original post June 24, 2014) we are waiting another week to publish. Though the car actually drove through the restaurant into the booth where she was sitting, all injuries are healing.
June 24, 2014, If you are like me, you don’t understand how the wearing of a beautiful North American Indian headdress, like Pharrell, Victoria’s Secret models, Gwen Stefani, Khloe Kardashian, or the celebratory gathering around of an illustration of a North American Indians, like NFL Redskins team and fans do, can be considered offensive. But some people do. Is it because they themselves endow the headdress and symbol with their own negative experiences, are these symbols so sacred that using them in a commercial capacity is poor form?
I certainly don’t know the answer to that question.
But, I have discussed this growing problem with (3) prominent North American Indians who are drafting their opinions on it, and which I will be posting here by the end of the week.
