March 10, 2015, In Buffalo, New York, USA, a high school and Friday Night Lights kind of suburban town is experiencing the Same problem as the NFL Redskins are experiencing, i.e., the same ‘the name is used only because of it’s positive associations and meanings’ versus ‘the name suggests prejudice and disrespect’. As within the National Football League debate, within the high school debate more North American Indians that I am aware of agree that name, mascot, logo, etc. it’s a sign of respect because, given the enormous enthusiasm Americans have for their sports teams, it’s not like they are going to be represented by a team name, symbol that they feel is a show of anything but strength and intelligence, of ‘winning’
